30 Days Of Local Wine Campaign

Wine connoisseurs and foodies will be made proud this holiday season, as WindsorEats relaunches their 30 Days of Local Wine campaign.

Every day throughout the month of December, WindsorEats will be featuring one bottle of local wine a day from different wineries around Windsor and Essex County. Shopping local is true WindsorEats style, and readers are encouraged to give the gift of a local wine this holiday season!

Excitement is mounting as this WindsorEats favourite is brought back to life for the holidays. The campaign will provide widespread exposure, as well as increased traffic to participating wineries, with over 25,000 unique visitors checking out the WindsorEats website each month looking for information on food and drinks in Windsor-Essex.

“The wine industry contributes so much to our community and we love the opportunity to work together to promote with local wineries through campaigns like 30 Days of Local Wine,” said WindsorEats owner Pina Ciotoli.

Not only is this promotion aimed at showcasing the amazing food and wine tourism products we have in Windsor-Essex, but also to provide an economic benefit to the region. Statistics show that every bottle of local wine generates $12.29 in added value for the Ontario economy.

The local wineries that you can look forward to seeing throughout the campaign include: Colchester Ridge Estate Winery, Cooper's Hawk Vineyard, North 42 Degrees Estate Winery, Oxley Estate Winery, Pelee Island Estate Winery and Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery, Aleksander Estate Winery and Erie Shores Vineyard.

Wine lovers will rejoice at the simplicity of choosing a wine for the holidays since descriptions of each wine, along with the delicious flavors and notes will be made available. Where to buy the wine, as well as the best holiday treats to pair it with will also be included.

WindsorEats has also partnered with local chefs to incorporate the featured wine into delectable entree and appetizer creations. Recipes will be provided so that you can make these holiday delicacies in the comfort of your own kitchen.

The campaign not only tantalizes your tastebuds, but it's fun too.

Part of the campaign includes  an Instagram photo contest “How Do You Enjoy Your Local Wine?”

Interested participants are asked to upload a photo of themselves enjoying their favourite local wine on their social media pages, with the hashtag #30DLW for a chance to win some amazing prizes.

The Coffee Break® is a simple and fun way to raise much-needed funds for the Alzheimer Society of Windsor & Essex County. This year’s goal is $30,000 from 100 host sites.
Anyone can host a Coffee Break – friends, families, businesses, and faith community groups. By exchanging a cup of coffee for a donation, you are making your coffee count!
Local proceeds remain in Windsor and Essex County and support our clients, their partners in care, and their families. Over 6,100 individuals in Windsor-Essex have been diagnosed with dementia.
“The demand for services is steadily climbing,” says Sally Bennett Olczak, CEO of the Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County. “We still don’t have a cure for the disease, but day programs, caregiver support groups, respite and other services help families to live well and independently longer. Our programs are increasingly vital. We need funds to keep them active.”
Please consider putting a pot of coffee on, (supplied by the society), and invite friends, family, and coworkers to your Coffee Break®. Ask them to donate any amount of money in exchange for a cup of coffee. For those that donate over $20 they will receive a commemorative Coffee Break T-shirt as a special 20th Anniversary thank-you!
Additionally, they are providing Coffee Cup cutouts to local businesses where customers purchase and proudly display their names in support of the Society.
Special thanks to our local sponsors; Colonial Coffee, Biz X Magazine and the National Campaign Sponsors Bulk Barn, and Mother Parker.

About Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life: it is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is one of the most common developmental disabilities. Based on recent studies by Canadian researchers, the prevalence rate of Autism Spectrum Disorder is 1 in 94.

In Ontario, there is an estimated 100,000 individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Yet most of the public, including many professionals in the medical, educational, and vocational fields, are still unaware of how autism affects people and how they can effectively work with individuals with autism.

Autism impacts the typical development of the brain in the areas of social interaction and communication skills. Children and adults with autism typically have difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities. They find it hard to communicate with others and relate to the outside world. In some cases, aggressive and/or self-injurious behaviour may be present. Persons with autism may exhibit repeated body movements (hand flapping, rocking), unusual responses to people or attachments to objects and resistance to changes in routines. Individuals may also experience sensitivities in sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.
